F. Fr. Bill's
remarks
1.
Next week is Catholic Schools Week. I will make a point at the
weekend masses to thank the parish for their generous support and
commitment to this ministry.
2.
Hopefully, within a short time Saint Rita and Precious Blood will
return to the table regarding our elementary school ministry and how we
can share this ministry for the future.
3.
I am grateful to John Kettler for facilitating the work of the
Festival Steering Committee. I am also very pleased with the professional
assistance of David Ramey and Strategic Associates.
4.
The Volunteer Ministry Dinner is this Friday evening beginning at 7
pm in the PAC. I hope that as many parish council and commission members
as possible will be present.
5.
Over 40 women were in attendance at the Day of Reflection on
Saturday, Jan. 21. Many thanks to all who shared in this day and to Mark
Moorman for organizing the event.
6.
PB Vacation Bible School scheduled this summer will include
children from St. Rita, Our Lady of Mercy, Corpus Christi and Queen of
Martyrs. I am grateful to Tim for his leadership in this matter.
7.
Two important fund raising events will take place soon. The
Athletic Association Fish Fry on Friday, Feb. 24 and the St. Vincent
DePaul Society Reverse Raffle on Friday, March 17.
8.
There is continuing discussion with the University of Notre Dame on
the possibility of a Glee Club Concert here at PB. No date has been set.
9.
Eight adults continue as part of the RCIA. Classes are now being
held at Corpus Christi and will move to PB during Lent. They meet on
Thursday evenings. The Rite of Election will take place on March 5.
|
|
10. Planning for the
Parish Festival has begun.
11 Some new marketing
initiatives for the elementary school will be happening soon.
12. The Worship
Commission is reviewing a proposal to change the time of the daily mass
from 7:30 to 8 or 8:30. Daily mass attendants raised this issue and
Gloria Anticoli conducted a survey on this issue.
13. A new issue of the
Font will be published and mailed out in February.
14. Dorothy Day Dinner
held the last Sunday of each month begins for the New Year Sunday, January
29.
15. Marvin Olinsky and
the Dayton Foundation have begun a low-key educational program regarding
the Legacy Program. A meeting to educate interested parishioners was held
recently and others will be scheduled over the next few months. Some type
of brochure to educate the parish in general will be prepared.
16. The proof text of
the Pictorial Directory is near correction and approval. Hopefully, the
directory will be in our hands some time in March.
17. The Parish mission
is now in the planning stage. It will take place from March 26 through
29.
18. The regional
Planning Committee has met three times. There have been some productive
discussions and some shared events are being planned. There will be a
pulpit exchange on the weekend of February 28-29. Parishes will share a
common mass and social for Memorial Day. A shared parish picnic has been
proposed for the fall. A leadership retreat is being planned for the fall
as well. |

Additional comments/Discussion
|
|
Ø
Think
Tank @ U.D. headed by Br. Fritz points out shifting population, and
financial burden
placed on parents,
which makes Catholic education difficult. Three strategies were
presented.
a.
Stay the same as Catholic Schools are now.
b.
Deanery wide schooling or Deanery Schools.
c.
One Deanery wide school
Ø
Regional
Parish Picnic.
a.
Shared picnic with St. Paul, St. Rita and Precious Blood.
b.
Parish Life Commission to assume responsibility for Precious
Blood’s part in this endeavor.
|
|
Fr. Bill has asked
that all Parish Pastoral Council members be present at the Volunteer
Dinner if at all possible. |
|
|
|
NEW BUSINESS |
|
Ø
Athletic Committee
No clear polices have ever been established. Ted Yantis, Dawn Amos,
Jackie Porter & Pam Marx have created a policy handbook, which will be
posted on the website.
Ø
Stewardship Commission
Will be pinning down fundraising schedule with various groups. Success is
in the timing with all groups. There will be a spring fundraiser at
Anticoli's where Precious Blood will receive 25% of dinner profits.
Ø
Old
Church Bell
o
It would appear that
since we have the Giving Tree within our interior church space publicizing
our roots with the Old Church Bell would be appropriate.
o
Building
& Grounds Committee should suggest an appropriate space.
o
This
item should be placed on their next agenda.
